The truth that makes men free is for the most part the truth which men prefer not to hear.
~ Herbert Agar (1897-1980) from "A Time for Greatness"
from Answers.com:
Herbert Agar won the Pulitzer Prize in 1934 for his book, The People's Choice, a critical study of the American presidency. A historian, critic, and poet, Agar was also the editor of the Louisville Courier-Journal. He wrote several other books, including The Saving Remnant: An Account of Jewish Survival Since 1914. The book is a history of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), which worked throughout World War II to save Jews from the Holocaust and to settle them in the new land of Israel. Agar wrote the book in 1960, after having visited Israel and interviewed Israeli immigrants who were brought to Israel through the auspices of the JDC.
