A fanciful Duke LP - Ellington was originally commissioned by Orson Welles to write a history of Jazz which was put aside and later picked up and turned into this production - the story of Caribee Joe and Madame Zajj. Flying saucers appear above the Empire State Building at one point. It's chock full of potential samples as Duke narrates gamely throughout. A great, playful record. |
