Monguito Santamaria - no relation to Mongo as far as I know. Hard, driving boogaloo, late sixties NYC style. I can't recall much of the lyrics but there's a moment in "El Dorado" where Monguito describes his Cadillac as being painted gold. Powerful stuff. Plus he's got a blue piano so obviously he likes to paint things bright colors. What must his congas look like? |
