Narasimha at Hampi, India
At this World Heritage site in Karnataka, is seated a human figure on the coils of a cobra snake with seven hoods as a canopy. It has a lion head with a terrifying countenance; "nara" = man, "simha" = lion; carved out of a single rock, approx. 18 feet in height, it's a mythical Hindu icon; a lion mask you'll see even over the canopy; built in 16th century, in Vijyanagara, located in the Deccan plateau region.
Much as I tried, I just couldn`t get the right light, but had to capture the only lion-head I ever would in life. [Lol] |
