Sweeney Tood is out on DVD!
We saw this movie three times - and we are not thater goers (nor musical fans ordinarily), but this one was worth it. And yes, Johnny Depp can SING!
It's "bloody good" - and JMO, better than the stage version. It's trimmer, easier to follow, and Tim Burton has directed a very beautifully done cinematic version of a masterpiece of musical composition by the nearly peerless Stephen Sondheim.
(Sondheim and the original score's orchestrator were closely involved in the entire process for the reworking of the music/libretto for the movie audience.)
We have the soundtrack already!
