Local willow trees, not weepers tho'.
These are in our creek and along the banks; they are taller than us!
The natives here cut them down to make sweat lodges with (used for the sweat ceremony or "inipi" - a prayer and penance ceremony for cleansing.
Before they cut them down they first apologize to the willows for needing to cut them and then make an offering of tobacco which is a thanksgiving to the Creator for all his gifts.
To them, all things are "alive" meaning they have the life energy source calls "skan", even rocks, and therefore must be honored.
They believed this wayyy before science discovered that it is true - atoms do move in rock!!!
Faith joined with science . . . ?
