Darned "flatlanders"!!!
(that's what South Lake Tahoe called not-locals - I had a Tahoe license plate frame for when I went to see my dad :D.)
There isn't a word for them here.
Anyway, across from the stable to the south is a fairly new development that happened since I moved here; it was a former base housing site (remember all those suprlus base houses? That's where they came from.)
Weell, they all hate the stable. ANd the owners of it. But, (not that I love the owner), it was here first!
Sooooooooo today a cop was driving by and saw Ed in the yard and turned in.
"Before we go over to the stable, can you tell us why the horses are making a lot of noise?" he asked. (We know them all - they have done night-time drivebys for us for years since Ed started working at night just to make sure I am OK - nice, eh?)
"Because they are refugees from the wildfire, they are strangers to each other and probably upset, and they are sqeauling at each other because that's part of the "getting-to-know-you ritual."
"Oh" said the cop. "Well, I have to go talk to the owner because the neighbors are complaining." And off he went.

THEY WEREN'T *THAT* LOUD!
We live right next door and haven't hear much considering how many horses are there temporarily, AND
some are still coming in as the evacuated areas are NOT allowing livestock back in even thought people can go in if they are careful . . .
CRIPES!
This is still mostly undeveloped land!
Nuts!
The dogs from over there make more noise! So do the B1-B bombers! A LOT MORE!
