Downtown Marietta has seen its share of flooding since the city’s settlement in 1788. J.C. Penney (now Putnam Street Commons, 121 Putnam St.) and the Strand Theatre, in the 100 block of Putnam Street, had most of their main floors full of floodwater Jan. 27, 1937. The owners of the Auditorium Theatre bought the Strand for first-run movies after the Auditorium fire. |
