		tomswift46	My wife is a financial manager for medical practices and does our taxes with Turbotax. This is either funny or annoying depending on your state of mind when it comes to taxes... I find taxes a necessary annoyance. If we were paying for protecting the environment etc.I wouldn't mind. I think we should get to choose what our taxes are spent on. Let's say you give 10,000 in taxes..You should be able to give percentages towards education,environment,protection etc....
			DITTO what Tom said. What was the American Revolution about? "Taxation Without Representation"! I feel as if our "representatives", not to mention our "president" do not listen to the PEOPLE. We voted for our incumbent Senator, Tom Daschle, only to find out afterward that HE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE! He lost, BTW. I used to use TaxCut after our "bookeepers" messed up - saved me big bux. Ed does ours now. Now that I do not work they are simple. He tried Telefile once - "NEVER AGAIN!" h

			Re the cold - you won't believe this but we hit 70 degrees yesterday and today - in SOUTH DAKOTA????? I guess it's another year of drought . . .
		duncan	In Australia people receive a Government pension which is enough to live on if you own your own home. There is a means/assets test but your own home is not counted as an asset. You allowed to earn some money over and above your pension without being taxed. This will be hard to maintain as the population grows older and lives longer. People are encourage to save for their retirement with the possibility that there may not be a pension in the future.

		tomswift46	Yes, I don't eat mushrooms except from the store. My next door neighbor is a scientist from Alsace and he carves shelf mushrooms off local trees and cooks them up and offers us some. I'm always a little worried.
