we planted it beside that well and it sucks water from it and i think that has really helped it grow. we had to fence it because a deer decided it would rub it with his antlers and really need a good job on it.

They grow along riverbanks in the colder climates in Australia. The do love water.

I love watching young trees grow. We haven't planted any trees, but when we first came here to middle Tennessee 12 years ago, got our 10 acres and built out house, at first my husband was running around with a bush-hog-like thingey I've forgotten the name of. About half of our acreage had been clearcut perhaps 10 years before, then left alone. My husband cleared the front field, and some more, but then I stopped him so I could go around clearing with a hand saw, and save baby dogwoods and such..
