In regards to your query as to the whereabouts of "the big house" (here and on my flickr set) - it's in Piedmont, CA which is a very upscale neighborhood between Berkeley and Oakland. This is, in fact, the first home there and that's why it has an acre around it - it belonged to the developer for the whole schmantzy town.
