Nice work.
This is awesome, love the effects! re quilts, that "circle" is a Morning Star design, and the natives often put a circle in the middle (the circle is very important in their spitituality) WITH A SYMBOL INSIDE LIKE AND EAGLE, ETC, DEPENDING ON WHAT or WHO THE QUILT IS FOR. tHEY USE THE STAR PATTERN VBECASUE THEY PRAY TO THE "mORNING sTAR" IN THE EAST EVERY MORNING (TO US, JESUS IS THE mORNING sTAR!). OOOOPS sorry for all the CAPS had CAPS lock on by mistake. Anyway, you don't (or I never did)
Anyway, you don't (or I never did) see these quilts in quilt books. They were a surprise to me when I got here! The quilts are highly prized and are usually made as GIFTS, are rarely kept by the makers! The Morning Star basic pattern is a give (I'll oput up a plain one later) with "fan" quilting. They always use solid colors, not prints. They add patterns to the star as I said depending on what or who the quilt is meant for . . . I LOVE quilts!
Oops the End of the Trail was also at the library - I don't have a native quilt; one day maybe . . . There are many made for the tourist trade that are poorly sewn and have cheap fabric, you can imagine that the good ones cost plenty or "masaska" (money) - they are all handsewn.
